Feed your dog high-quality, well-balanced dog food and treats.
Maintain your dog's weight at a healthy level.
Provide your dog with a constant supply of fresh water.
Here at Barrett's your puppy will be fed Pro-Plan 30/20, All Life Stages, abrupt switches in the type of food and water can bring on stomach upset.
If you do intent to switch to a different food, make the changeover gradually during the course of a week.
Dry food helps promote healthy teeth and gums
Make sure your puppy has cool clean water at all times.
While at Barrett's food is offered several times a day so that each and every puppy gets enough to eat.
You will not have that problem I suggest that until the puppy is totally house broke is to feed him at intervals and give him a time limit to eat, then take it away. If he did not eat at one meal he will the next. He will learn fast that he must eat when food is offered.
Puppies grow very quickly and the quantity of food you feed them depend on an the individual dog,
If he leaves the dish with food in it it may of been to much and if he is still licking the bowl when its gone may need more.
Leaving food to free choice feeding is not recommended, this can lead to over eating and obesity, however after he is house broke and he is a picky eater, he may do well with free choice feedings.
Grooming your Puppy
No matter what type of coat your puppy has he must be groomed on a regular basis.
Cockapoos and Schnoodles will need extra grooming to keep their coats clean and untangled.
While they are puppies the primary purpose of grooming daily is to accustom them to being handled all over.As you get more familiar with your puppy he learns to stand still or lie still as you brush and comb, cut his nails. You will be thankful for teaching them while young.
Keeping Your Puppy Healthy
It's important keep your puppy healthy.Find a good veterinarian, the most important factor in the on going health of your puppy is you. Making sure he or she gets regular preventive care from a veterinarian is part of it, but providing a healthy diet ,daily exercise ,regular grooming and are just as important.
A Happy Puppy is a socialized puppy!
Clip your dog's nails regularly.
Check and clean your dog's ears on a regular basis.
Monitor your dog's dental health and provide appropriate dental care.
Socializing your puppy before they are 12-16 weeks old will help to ensure that they are a comfortable, well-behaved adult.
Be sure to let your puppy explore many different experiences such as being around children (with your watchful eye), groups of people, other dogs, going on walks around your neighborhood. Puppy classes are great too!
Do not give your pet cooked bones! They are hazardous and leave splinters in their throats.
The wrong food can cause chronic health problems. Itching, hot spots, dry hair, oily hair, excessive shedding, ear infections, loose stools, and gassiness.
Socialize your puppy once he has had all his important first vaccinations.
Adequate exercise and play time.
Dogs enjoy chewing, chasing, and pulling, make sure they play or exercise with a toy you choose, rather than a household item. A chewy bone exercises the jaw, balls and frisbees are fun to chase and retrieve. They love also to drag toys around some like to cuddle with them.
Daily exercise on and off a leash (to run) 15-20 minutes a day is encouraged.
Barrett's Puppies are sold for pets only / Neutering and spaying at 5- 6 months is required.
Practice preventive healthcare for your puppy including; Heartworm disease prevention, flea and tick control, dental care and hygiene, and intestinal parasite protection.
Traveling with your puppy.
For Car and Air journeys dogs should go into a crate, they well be happier in their crates and usually will sleep most of the way. Make sure you have your puppy adjusted in car travel by taking on short frequent trips before long journeys.
Avoid feeding puppy before the journey. Always take water with a container.Every 2-3 hours, let him relieve himself and get a little exercise.

A dog’s height is determined by his shoulders, not by his head. Stand your dog on a flat, solid surface. Run your hand over the back of his neck to his back. The highest point over the shoulder is the point of the withers. Use a tape measure to find the distance from this point in a straight line to the floor.
Things you may not know.
F1=first generation puppy—50% purebred-A and 50% purebred-B. For example, a Cocker Spaniel to Poodle cross is first generation, resulting in healthier offspring. In this particular Cockapoo cross, hair type can be smooth like a Cocker, or wavy/shaggy, they can shed or not shed and pups in the same litter can vary. This is not the best cross for people with severe allergies.
F1b=backcross puppy—25% purebred-A and 75% purebred-B. For example, an F1 Cockapoo and Poodle cross; this is a Cockapoo bred back to Poodle— the wavy, curly, shaggy-look (poodle cross) is very consistent in coat types. F1b is the MOST likely of any Cockapoo to be non-shedding and allergy-friendly, and is the easiest coat to take care of.
Breeders who breed purebred to purebred creating a first generation hybrid believe in the heterosis effect and hybrid vigor. Vigor means "physical or mental strength, energy, or force." Unlike purebred dogs, when you adopt a hybrid, you do not know exactly what the size of the dog, or exact look of the dog will be.
"The public is under the impression that mixed breeds exhibit vigor and will not express genetic disorders," "This is simply not true."
Do dog need vitamins?
Most dogs receive a complete and balanced diet - including necessary vitamins and minerals - from commercially processed dog food, according to the FDA.
Possibly. If an animal already eats a balanced diet and receives excess portions
of some vitamins and minerals, they could be harmful, according to the FDA and veterinarians.
Always consult with your vet before adding vitamins to your dogs diet.
